Travelodge Dundee Central

152-158 W Marketgait, Dundee DD1 1NJ, UK – 0871 984 6301

Stayed there March 2017 for one night only. Very nice place for a short business stay. Booked a room for 1 person but 4 to 5 people would comfortably sleep in the room. Clean. The only negative point is the available breakfast, basically a box with a very light meal that you can pick in the frontdesk. Close to the University and central. If you are looking for a nice room, clean and comfortable for a very nice deal I would say this is the option.

Good location for both universities. Parking is limited and if you want a disabled bay park you are unlikely to get one as the people visiting the gym in the building next to the Travelodge fill them even though they have never display blue badges. Rooms are large which is good. The first room I was in had great water pressure, (on the second floor) but the second room I stayed in (first floor) had awful water pressure. It was fitted with a low flow shower head and took forever to shower with. The service had always been great every time I've stayed here. Staff couldn't be better.

Travelodge Dundee

Kingsway, Tayside, Dundee DD2 4TD, UK – 0871 984 6135

I turned up at 11.30pm after a long day's work travelling from London and the member of staff, Kenny, couldn't have been more polite and hospitable. They even lent me a spare plug so I could charge my phone! Great night's sleep too.

Very friendly staff and very clean comfy hotel. Reasonably priced too

Best Western Invercarse Hotel

371 Perth Rd, Dundee DD2 1PG, UK – 01382 669231

Excellent hotel. We have stayed here several times now and always have a very warm welcome and the rooms are spotless and very comfortable. Even with the building of the extension we were undisturbed during our visit and the extra bedrooms will increase availability. The dining and bar staff again are very pleasant and the food presentation is always very good and served with the same warm welcome. We will be back - first class.

Great location with easy access to the city centre. Nice interior and friendly staff. Excellent dinner menu. Rooms were pleasant but a bit small, radiator in our room needed bled and was noisy throughout the night. Hotel was currently being refurbished so some areas were not accessible. Overall for what we paid it was good value for money.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Tinsmith

11-13 Old Hawkhill, Dundee DD1 5EU, UK – 01382 204198

Great wee pub. Love it. Meals are great. Nice pint of Heineken. Beer garden out back. Great staff.

Could do with more TV's for sports and some more sensible seating but otherwise a great bar

Perth Rd, Dundee DD2 4LN, UK – 01382 226344

Change a lot over past 2 years. Menu is big with plenty choice. Portions are good. Drink rotations are excellent if you enjoy a variety of ales and lagers.

Great atmosphere, good tables for groups with board games etc available. Food could be better.

Meat House Bar & Grill

2-8 Perth Rd, Dundee DD1 4LN, UK – 01382 690040

I love the selection of steaks and the selection of small plates which can be used alone or as starters. The service is good. You might also need to reserve a table as some evenings the restaurant can be busy

Not my first trip but yet again a delight. Highly recommend the lamb actually but the Rib Eye and Sirloin were both great too. Topped by charming customer service.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
