Hotels

Travelodge Dundee Central Hotel

152-158 W Marketgait, Dundee DD1 1NJ, UK – 0871 984 6301

Spacious rooms but not as clean as you would expect. Parking is at rear end and there are no signs or description in the booking confirmation so found it a bit frustrating.

Central location free parking. Receptionist was lovely and very friendly. Room was huge and very clean. Last person had left milk carton on windowsill that cleaners missed. No real complaints. Poor sleep due to other guests. Very noisy males up until at 9 am. However not hotels fault and would satay again.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dundee

Kingsway W, Dundee DD2 5JT, UK – 01382 641122

Afternoon tea was nice, not great, but nice. Quick and friendly service and having really good coffee means I'll be back. Afternoon tea had nothing unusual or special about it and the teeny scone-type things really were teeny tiny. Still, filled a hole.

I was at the DoubleTree bu Hilton Hotel in Dundee for a Christening celebration. The hotel looked lovely, although we were all mainly in the conservatory. It was a great space, well presented with a great view of the surrounding grounds. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue Hotel

296A Strathmore Ave, Dundee DD3 6SH, UK – 0871 984 6460

Great value. Nice clean room at a good price. Reasonably close to the city centre (5 minute taxi ride). Friendly staff. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Great hotel. Far better from the inside than it looks from the outside. Got in to bed and woke up eight hours later in the same position... Nothing disturbed me. Staff great. Helpful. Couldn't ask for more for the price.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Tinsmith

11-13 Old Hawkhill, Dundee DD1 5EU, UK – 01382 204198

Becoming a regular, nice staff and diverse folks coming to this place. Food is great, and pricing is fair. If you are around, and need either breakfast, lunch or dinner: give them a shot.

Nice place, very friendly staff. Drinks quite expensive for Dundee is the only thing. Good place to watch sport.

The Beiderbeckes

167 Brook St, Dundee DD1 5BJ, UK – 01382 229440

In my quest to show my partner all the restaurants in Dundee, we decided upon The Beiderbeckes to have our early valentine's day dinner. I had heard little to nothing about it so was curious if it would be a love or hate. Love! Great menu, delicious food, fair prices and lovely attentive staff. I would recommend booking ahead though, it filled up quickly. I would highly recommend anyone in the area looking for a nice meal out to have a look at their menu and try it :)

Lovely meals great choice for vegetarians for a change. Will be going back soon.

The D'Arcy Thompson

21 – 23 Old Hawkhill, Dundee DD1 5EU, UK – 01382 322694

Nice place, food is a bit expensive for the portion size you receive. Staff are very friendly though and the venue is nice and well looked after

Without doubt the best meal I've ever had in Dundee! The starter was to die for and the home made bread was unreal, absolutely gorgeous. Main was amazing. No 'art on a plate' type of stuff, yet still beautifully presented with enough on the plate to satisfy large appetites (like mine). Staff were great and this is a place we'll be back to. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
