Travelodge Dundee Hotel

Kingsway, Tayside, Dundee DD2 4TD, UK – 0871 984 6135

From the moment we arrived until we left we found each member of staff friendly, obliging and very helpful. When arriving we found location idealy situated with a large free car park and made to feel welcome. In our opinion Dundee is the best Travel Lodge in which we have ever stayed. The food and drink menu was varied and plentyful and service excellent . We would have no hesitation in recommending this Lodge to any of our friends.

Clean, comfy bed. Easy parking.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dundee

Kingsway W, Dundee DD2 5JT, UK – 01382 641122

Went for High Tea and the sandwiches, scones and cakes were visually pleasing, fresh and delicious. Coffee and tea was of good quality while staff was polite and helpful. Would go back in a heart beat! Lovely venue, however the conservatory was a bit too warm

The room and swimming pool were very small but the service was excellent and the food was also excellent. The bed was comfy although the pillows were too soft. Would recommend if you need to stay on Dundee for a few nights

Best Western Invercarse Hotel

Great food, great night out

I attended a rotary club of Dundee lunch and had a lovely experience. Great food and service.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Tinsmith

11-13 Old Hawkhill, Dundee DD1 5EU, UK – 01382 204198

Becoming a regular, nice staff and diverse folks coming to this place. Food is great, and pricing is fair. If you are around, and need either breakfast, lunch or dinner: give them a shot.

Nice place, very friendly staff. Drinks quite expensive for Dundee is the only thing. Good place to watch sport.

The Beiderbeckes

167 Brook St, Dundee DD1 5BJ, UK – 01382 229440

In my quest to show my partner all the restaurants in Dundee, we decided upon The Beiderbeckes to have our early valentine's day dinner. I had heard little to nothing about it so was curious if it would be a love or hate. Love! Great menu, delicious food, fair prices and lovely attentive staff. I would recommend booking ahead though, it filled up quickly. I would highly recommend anyone in the area looking for a nice meal out to have a look at their menu and try it :)

Stopped for a quick refuel on my way home, ended up spending quite some time in there. I do like to explore new places wherever I go, and thought might give this place a try. Luring me in with a Budweiser Budvar sign, I was disappointed when I learned they only had this beer in bottles, but the one they had on tap was pretty good too. It is really cosy place that offers good drinks and makes you feel welcome thanks to the amazing staff, who are very friendly people. Only shame they are not permitted to have a drink with you - other then that - I sure will be back and I'm looking forward to it.

The D'Arcy Thompson

21 – 23 Old Hawkhill, Dundee DD1 5EU, UK – 01382 322694

Without doubt the best meal I've ever had in Dundee! The starter was to die for and the home made bread was unreal, absolutely gorgeous. Main was amazing. No 'art on a plate' type of stuff, yet still beautifully presented with enough on the plate to satisfy large appetites (like mine). Staff were great and this is a place we'll be back to. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Fantastic food with great service at a very reasonable price.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Balmuirfield House Bed and Breakfast

Harestane Rd, Dundee DD3 0NU, UK – 01382 819655

A wonderful place to stay giving you access to the many sights in the area. Morag and Stuart are wonderful hosts and welcome you to their inn. The breakfast is huge, filling and tasty. Stuart makes the best omelette I've ever had! I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

Wonderful place. Stayed there about a year ago. A place with huge character, comfy room, great breakfast, excellent proprietors.

Ashton Guest House

40 Roseangle, Dundee DD1 4LY, UK – 01382 900210

Let me begin by saying that this is a budget hotel, so please bear this in mind when reading my comments. Having done extensive research, this place is a BARGAIN. Most of my colleagues who were here for the same conference were playing three times the rate for a regular hotel room. This place is by far the cheapest lodging in Dundee with an en suite bathroom. That said, the good: The location is ideal: Walkable to town centre and both universities, as well as many pubs and restaurants. In a very safe neighborhood (I never felt worried walking at night). The room was clean and well-cared for, and the staff is responsive and efficient. The bed was comfortable, the temperature was good (I was there in the summer). My room, which was in the back of the building, was extremely quiet. The Internet was decent. There's a tea kettle in the room (love that!) The not-so-good: The dressers were cheap IKEA furniture and the drawers kept falling out. The shower was small—fine for me (a fairly tall average build woman) but I would not recommend it for a tall, heavyweight man. The staff can be a bit surly at times, possibly because they are overwhelmed and underpaid? (...although I could not tell how many people were staying here since it was so quiet!) I do NOT recommend the free breakfast: Mine consisted of undercooked soft boiled eggs, soft bacon (in the UK style), and sauteed canned mushrooms.

Ideal location. Good value for money, good size room with comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Will be returning and have already booked return visit. Recommended.

Andersons Guest House

285 Perth Rd, Dundee DD2 1JS, UK – 01382 668585

The lady who owns the guest house is very hospitable, the service was outstanding. The room we had was very comfortable, and we recieved a lovely breakfast. Dog was very friendly! :)

Lovely staff.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Camperdown Country park

Camperdown Wildlife Centre, Camperdown Country Park, Coupar Angus Rd, Dundee DD2 4TF, UK – 01382 431818

Beautiful park with lovely views and more than adequate parking. Great for dog walkers or Pokémon Go players alike. There is also a Golf course, although I don't play so I can't review that.

Lovely staff.. Nice atmosphere. Really depends on time of day if the animals are out. Meerkat are great fun.
