DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dundee

Kingsway W, Dundee DD2 5JT, UK – 01382 641122

Lovely Hotel. Loved the warm welcome with a warm chocolate cookie. Nice experience. Comfortable rooms, great staff serving breakfast. Very refreshing stay as health club.

Afternoon tea was nice, not great, but nice. Quick and friendly service and having really good coffee means I'll be back. Afternoon tea had nothing unusual or special about it and the teeny scone-type things really were teeny tiny. Still, filled a hole.

Best Western Invercarse Hotel

371 Perth Rd, Dundee DD2 1PG, UK – 01382 669231

Stayed as we were attending a Worcester Bosch function. Hotel was fine - perfectly clean, nothing broken, no-one rude, facilities adequate. It's just a wee bit dated & tired. No real spark or modern feel to it - but it may suit certain people. Couldn't say anything bad - but would Defo try somewhere else next time in Dundee.

Lovely food. Lovely service. Great with kids. Highly recommend and would definitely use again.

Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue Hotel

296A Strathmore Ave, Dundee DD3 6SH, UK – 0871 984 6460

Great value. Nice clean room at a good price. Reasonably close to the city centre (5 minute taxi ride). Friendly staff. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Comfortable but basic rooms. Reasonable bar prices. Friendly staff

My wife and I really enjoy the Beiderbecke's experience. Food is excellent both in taste & quality. Staff always helpful and friendly. It's a must if you haven't already been.

ALWAYS Good food and great staff. Great friendly place. 😊😆

The D'Arcy Thompson

21 – 23 Old Hawkhill, Dundee DD1 5EU, UK – 01382 322694

Nice place, food is a bit expensive for the portion size you receive. Staff are very friendly though and the venue is nice and well looked after

Without doubt the best meal I've ever had in Dundee! The starter was to die for and the home made bread was unreal, absolutely gorgeous. Main was amazing. No 'art on a plate' type of stuff, yet still beautifully presented with enough on the plate to satisfy large appetites (like mine). Staff were great and this is a place we'll be back to. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Balmuirfield House Bed and Breakfast

Harestane Rd, Dundee DD3 0NU, UK – 01382 819655

We (couple, Germany) stayed at Balmuirfield house early August 2017 together with our six months old baby and it was definitely the best Scotland experience we could imagine. Starting with the lovely venue, it's garden and the perfect rooms, the owner's family and their care was extraordinary. Great tips, great food and great stories. We really enjoyed the stay and can only recommend to stay here.

A wonderful place to stay giving you access to the many sights in the area. Morag and Stuart are wonderful hosts and welcome you to their inn. The breakfast is huge, filling and tasty. Stuart makes the best omelette I've ever had! I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

Ashton Guest House

40 Roseangle, Dundee DD1 4LY, UK – 01382 900210

Basic room, bed was uncomfortable but warm. Quite cheap accomodation. Basic breakfast. Not bad but not great either very average, as it didn't cost much I didn't mind.

Let me begin by saying that this is a budget hotel, so please bear this in mind when reading my comments. Having done extensive research, this place is a BARGAIN. Most of my colleagues who were here for the same conference were playing three times the rate for a regular hotel room. This place is by far the cheapest lodging in Dundee with an en suite bathroom. That said, the good: The location is ideal: Walkable to town centre and both universities, as well as many pubs and restaurants. In a very safe neighborhood (I never felt worried walking at night). The room was clean and well-cared for, and the staff is responsive and efficient. The bed was comfortable, the temperature was good (I was there in the summer). My room, which was in the back of the building, was extremely quiet. The Internet was decent. There's a tea kettle in the room (love that!) The not-so-good: The dressers were cheap IKEA furniture and the drawers kept falling out. The shower was small—fine for me (a fairly tall average build woman) but I would not recommend it for a tall, heavyweight man. The staff can be a bit surly at times, possibly because they are overwhelmed and underpaid? (...although I could not tell how many people were staying here since it was so quiet!) I do NOT recommend the free breakfast: Mine consisted of undercooked soft boiled eggs, soft bacon (in the UK style), and sauteed canned mushrooms.

Athollbank Guest House

19 Thomson St, Dundee DD1 4LF, UK – 01382 801118

This place is comfortable and very reasonably priced. My wife and I had a very enjoyable short stay. Great location, easy walk to city centre. Lovely walk along riverside. Local restaurants are good and close by. Looking forward to return visit.

Had an enjoyable short break with friends, excellent value for money, with a comfortable room and good cooked breakfast.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Camperdown Country park

Camperdown Wildlife Centre, Camperdown Country Park, Coupar Angus Rd, Dundee DD2 4TF, UK – 01382 431818

There is a modern and well stuffed entrance building that includes a small gift shop and restaurant. The park itself has some a good mix of wildlife that appear to be kept in well maintained enclosures. In places the visitor areas of the park are looking a little tired but it could have been that I visited just before they cut the grass. The park includes some of the following wildlife. Piano goats, tortoises, rheas, lemurs and other small monkeys, brown bears, bats, meercats, guinea pigs, birds of prey, storks, peacocks, ibis and a beautiful macaw. The size of the park is perfect for kids. It takes over an hour to saunter round and spot every thing (longer if you were to read all the info). If you want a day out you can enjoy the park setting before going in as there is hours of entertainment just outside the park's gates.

I will give 4 stars as the parkland is well kept and very relaxing. Plenty of places to get away from people even on a busy day. Unfortunately the cafe is a disgusting rip of, seriously over priced and poor quantities. This is Dundee where normal working people live. It is not millionaire land, oil worker land or central London.
